A terrible mass-shooting recently occurred at a country music festival near hotel Mandalay Bay. The shooter had handguns, high powered rifles capable of penetrating police armor, and several magazines within his hotel suite at the Mandalay Bay. Due to a lack of security measures, one man gained the terrible power to shoot hundreds of people. This led us to ask our WHS peers the following question:

In wake of the recent Las Vegas shooting, should public places have the power to check bags and/or have metal detectors?

**Do note that we may not have been able to survey everyone and this is not a perfect representation of the responses we received. There are several nuances to this issue that we unfortunately could not touch upon. Some of those who answered “maybe” may have only partially agreed. Others preferred gun control over security checks. We did not have a representative from the club to survey 8th period. If you’re in 8th period lunch and are interested, let us know at [email protected]!**
