The winners of the 2022 Nobel Prize in chemistry were announced on Wednesday 5 October. Carolyn R. Bertozzi, Morten Meldal and K. Barry Sharpless were awarded for their contributions to “click chemistry.”
Essentially the scientists provided a simple way to attach molecules to each other, like a buckle.
The innovation can be used to create massive chemical libraries or attach dye to a molecule and track its movement.
Each scientist will be granted around $300,000 for their efforts.
