The winners of the 2022 Nobel Prize in chemistry were announced on Wednesday 5 October. Carolyn R. Bertozzi, Morten Meldal and K. Barry Sharpless were awarded for their contributions to “click chemistry.”

Essentially the scientists provided a simple way to attach molecules to each other, like a buckle.

The innovation can be used to create massive chemical libraries or attach dye to a molecule and track its movement.

Each scientist will be granted around $300,000 for their efforts.

The 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Alain Aspect, John F. Clauser and Anton Zeilinger for their experiments with entangled photons and for pioneering the field of quantum information science.

President Biden has issued a pardon for all those previously charged with simple marijuana possession. This move will affect the lives of thousands of Americans.

Biden has not yet called for the full decriminalization of marijuana, but has urged governors to reconsider sentencing people for the crime.

In an attempt to cushion the impact of this decision, President Biden has ordered the Department of Energy to produce 10 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in the coming month.
